Provenance
Fibre Source
Known for its unparalleled softness and comfort, Merino wool is a high-performance fibre perfect for all seasons.
It is breathable and moisture-wicking, transporting perspiration and moisture away from the body and towards the surface of the fabric. The natural crimp and scales on the wool fibres create tiny pockets of air that allow for moisture to be absorbed and released quickly. Merino wool is also wrinkle-resistant, making it a terrifically low-maintenance option (particularly when it comes to travelling).
Linen, on the other hand, isn't quite so winkle-resistant. A vegetal product of the flax plant, linen fabric is characterised by it's 'slubby' texture.
But linen is brilliantly breathable. It allows air to circulate and heat to dissipate, keeping you cool and comfortable in warm weather. And it is extremely strong and durable, capable of withstanding regular wear and tear.
When woven together, wool and linen provide the yin to each other's yang: the soft texture and fantastic drape of wool is combined with the rough durability of linen. Rustic but sophisticated, it's an ideal tailoring blend for every well-dressed gentleman.
Performance
Construction
This garment is made with natural shoulders, which means the shoulders are stripped of excess structure and padding.
It is a sartorial technique commonly associated with Neapolitan tailoring allowing the shoulders to drape naturally, without the stuffiness of padding. This creates a softer, more relaxed silhouette that follows the contours of the body without excessive stiffness or structure.
