Our Icons range is a curated collection of confidence-building wardrobe staples that have been part of M.J. Bale for years. Debonair, versatile and classically elegant, their popularity has endured because of timeless style and impeccable craftsmanship never goes out of fashion. If the mark of every well-dressed gentleman is the ability to elevate the basics to an art form, then consider these Icons your masterpieces-in-waiting.
Created in 2010, making it the grandmaster of all M.J. Bale suits, the navy Saunders endures for a reason. Woven in a Super 110s sharkskin cloth in Biella, Italy, from Merino wool grown in New England, NSW, the navy Saunders conveys an understated kind of elegance. It has even been worn as official ‘Number ones’ kit by the Australian Test cricket team and the Wallabies.
The solemn sibling to the navy Saunders, our black Saunders suit conveys grace and gravitas. It is created from a Super 110s black sharkskin wool cloth that has been woven by Italy’s Vitale Barberis Canonico, and constructed with a half-canvas jacket with notch lapel.
Woven in Italy by Tessuti di Sondrio from European Flax-certified linen and cotton, the Robertson suit has been our most popular suit since 2016, after eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt wore it to the spring races. Call the colour sand, cream, bone, off-white, ivory or beige – either way, the Robertson is the leisure seeking Australian man’s tailored staple.
Created in a tropical wool cloth woven with a slight natural stretch, the Guyra Black Jacket is lightweight and flexible. A hardworking all-rounder suited to all occasions requiring gravitas and elegance.
Created from superfine Merino wool grown in the New England region of New South Wales, the Eglinton Grey Jacket is woven in Italy into a Super 110s sharkskin cloth. Soft, lustrous and strong, the premium natural fibre translates to a cloth with superior drape, comfort and longevity.
Created from flax grown on a single family-run farm in Normandy, France, our Bradfield single-source linen shirts are threaded with integrity. Wear under linen-cotton tailoring for a relaxed riff on formal dress codes, or casually with shorts and chinos.
Released in 2013, our slim-fit McQueen chinos are made from cotton woven with recycled elastane for the perfect amount of stretch, flex and give. Looking for a wider trouser leg? The McQueen’s brother, the Redford, is identical, but crafted with a more relaxed leg fit.
Relaxed, understated, and inspired by 1950s Italian summer style, our linen-cotton Dickie knit polo is the antithesis to the ubiquitous traditional polo with front-placket buttons and loud brand logo. Created from ‘slubby’ linen and durable cotton, the Dickie has ribbed cuffs & hem and knitted seams, conveying a more vintage and timeless mojo.
