We are committed to doing right by our customers and community, so together we can do right by the world. We are on a journey towards continuous improvement.
Over 95% of everything we create is from sustainably-grown, biodegradable natural fibres. This includes single-source Australian Merino wool, grown entirely on conservationist farms in Tasmania.
We measure our Scope 1 - 3 emissions and work with all partners throughout our value chain to reduce emissions at the source. Our entire store network and head office is renewable energy powered.
We have a hypothesis that the fashion industry can decarbonise itself. We’re conducting a series of experiments to prove it, including the production of a world-first methane-reduced wool and carbon neutral knitwear.
Created entirely in Australia, our world-first Net Zero Knitwear comes from single-source methane-reduced Merino Wool and uses emissions-free transport in its production.
M.J. Bale single-source methane-reduced Merino wool is woven by sustainable Italian weaver Vitale Barberis Canonico into fine worsted cloth, and constructed into limited edition blazers by Lubiam 1911 in Mantova, Italy.
We work at the farm level with the world’s most ethical producers of natural fibres – from our Tasmanian single-source wool partners, Ashby farm and the carbon positive Kingston farm, to organic cotton growers in regional New South Wales and Queensland and flax (linen) producers in Normandy, France.
Home to 8% of all Tasmanian Indigenous grasslands and countless threatened flora & fauna, our single-source Merino wool partner, Kingston farm, is considered by the government to be “of national significance.” We return a percentage from every Kingston garment sale to Kingston farm, where it is reinvested into biodiversity preservation and land regeneration projects.
