FEATURES

The Mantova Jacket is a world-first: the first tailored garment created from methane-reduced wool, and the result of the Australian fashion, agriculture and aquaculture industries collaborating on local solutions to global challenges. The 16-micron single-source wool for the limited-edition Mantova Jacket came from 500 Merino sheep at Kingston farm, Tasmania, fed methane-busting Asparagopsis taxiformis seaweed for 300 consecutive days. The seaweed, grown by Sea Forest off the coast of Triabunna, Tasmania, was proven by CSIRO to reduce ruminant methane emissions by over 80%. The Kingston wool was woven by Vitale Barberis Canonico in the Italian Alps into Super 150s cloth and crafted by Lubiam 1911 in Mantova, Italy, using hand-stitching and machine-work across 200 stages. A percentage of every Kingston Mantova Jacket sale is returned to the conservationist Kingston farm in Tasmania’s northern Midlands to support biodiversity preservation and revegetation projects.
